VISION

The heart of everything we do is Spreading God’s Fame by Making Disciples of All People so that lives are changed.

SPREADING GOD’S FAME

Philippians 2:10-11

So that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

BY MAKING DISCIPLES

Matthew 28:19

Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Of All People

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Mission & Values

The mission begins with the Gospel. We say it starts with the heart. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) To accomplish the mission we GATHER for worship, GROW in groups, GO on mission (here, there, and everywhere), and GIVE to what matters of our time, talent, and treasure.

Gather for Worship

Excellence honors God and draws people.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Grow in a Group

As we make disciples, we are made into disciples.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52)

Go Change Your World

Good works without good news is no good.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Give to What Matters

You can’t outgive God.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

Core Beliefs

The Cross Church is a voluntary band of baptized believers in Jesus Christ. We are self governing and do not depend on an outside organization for financial support or leadership. The Cross Church cooperates with other like-minded organizations to share the gospel around the world, including Baptist organizations on the local, state, and national levels such as the Collin County Baptist Association, the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, Texas Baptists, and the Southern Baptist Convention. The Cross Church affirms the Bible as the inspired, infallible word of God. It is the basis of our sincerely held beliefs over morality, lifestyle, and conduct. We subscribe to the doctrinal statements of The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Cross Church’s core beliefs are the foundation of this church and are divided into three categories: beliefs about God, beliefs about people, and beliefs about the Church and the Bible.

Beliefs About God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 6:3, 8, Matthew 28:18-19

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary and is fully God and fully human. Matthew 1:20-25, John 1:1-2, 14

The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus and to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ.
John 16:8, John 15:26, 16:14, John 14:16-26, 1 Corinthians 2:12

Beliefs About People

We believe that all humans were created in the image of God, that man and woman sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God. Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 3:22, Genesis 9:6, James 3:9

We believe that all humans are born with a sinful nature and need God’s forgiveness. Romans 3:23

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who personally place their faith in Him are redeemed and justified on the basis of His shed blood. John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:15, 21, 1 Peter 1:18-19, Romans 3:23-26, 5:1

Beliefs About the Church and the Bible

We believe that the Church is made up of all believers in Christ, that in its local manifestation it is an autonomous assembly of believers.
Colossians 1:18, Philippians 1:1

We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testament as being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, John 10:35, Matthew 5:18
